Mary's Fan Fiction Planning NEW Idea + Other peoples' Fan Fic
I decided to change my idea for my fan fiction because I felt that I was destroying the integrity of the book by taking away the two main characters' medical conditions. So, I am still doing The Fault in Our Stars by John Green but I am keeping their medical conditions and changing how I do it.
I decided that I would write about a time near the end of the book. Augustus, the main boy has died and I want to write from his perspective instead of Hazel's (the book was originally written from her perspective).
There is a short time (about seven minutes) after you die, that your brain is still active (in some cases). So, I want to write from Augustus's perspective about what he thinks during those seven minutes after he dies. I will most likely make it as if he is writing a letter to Hazel's (main girl) in his mind, as I want my writing to be bittersweet.
I looked at other peoples' fan fiction for The Fault in Our Stars and these were a few of my favourites. I picked them because I thought their language was similar to the book and I want that to be a key component in my work.

Writing about the last seven minutes in one's life is such an awesome idea, I am looking forward to see that! It must be quite difficult to write:(
ReplyDeleteI am loving your idea!
ReplyDeleteAre you going to write this from the boy's POV?
Thanks! I hope it turns out okay. I think my main challenge is trying to use a similar writing style to the book :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Emma. Yes I am going to write from the boy's POV :)
ReplyDeleteI also love this idea of narrator.
ReplyDeleteCould Hazel have access in some way to these final thoughts - could the message 'get through'?
I will definitely consider that! Thanks Esther
