Fei's Fanfic planning

I think I will write my fanfic based on one of my favoutite novel-(The Wind In The Willow). And I will focus on the character Mr Toad as I think he is the most funny character in all books I have read.

1-Summary: This fan fiction is about Mole's nephew found the water is very magic, and he decided to find out the secret power of the river.
-Comment: The description of the feelings of the Mole is very specific in this fan fiction, as if we are reading into Mole's thoughts. The emotion in  the fan fiction is deep and sensitive, as it mentioned quite a few times about Mole's tears. The description about friendship is also touching in this fan fiction, when Rat trying to comfort Mole but don't know how and when every friend trying so hard to find the missing Mole.

2-Summary: This fan fiction is about Toad started to date with a foreign girl, and was about to get engaged with her.And his friends were trying their best to stop this engagement as Toad was such an headless animal they worried about him making the wrong decision.
--Comment: This fan fiction is quite fun to read, the author put humour in his writing. The Toad's nature remained same in this fan fiction, and Toad's craziness was shown very well in this work. For example, Toad introduced Mole, Badger and Rat as his servants to his girlfriend.

3-Summary: The story is about in one early morning, Toad came to Rat's place and offered Rat a new boat as present as it is his fault that Rat's old boat gets damaged(from <The Wind in the Willow>). After that Rat and Toad set out to the river in the new boat, half way Toad leaves as he sees an aeroplane and finding a life pursuing aeroplane is really more fun.
-Comment: I think this fan fiction is very well written, because the Rat. the Mole and the Toad had exactly same nature as in the original book. For example, Mole was being considerable all the time, shown by when he heard Rat and Toad was about to be on the river in the afternoon, he soon started to prepare luncheon basket for them.  Also I think the author loves the peaceful boating scenes in the original book, so in this story, there were lots of beautiful writing about the two animals' feelings when they were on the river.

4-Summary: The story is about Badger got an unexpected visitor one late night, who was a bunny and  a messenger sending a letter for a gentleman. As the poor bunny was cold and wet, Badger offered him a good night time stay Then badger realised this letter was addressing to him and accusing his cousin's bad act. Therefore Badger decided to find out the whole story.
-Comment: In the original book, there was also a chapter about one late night, Badger's place came unexpected visitors, so I think  this part of the story was not very creative. But I like the part that this bunny appeared in a dark, cold night, and this bunny described the man who forced him to be a messenger a grim one, this looked very mysterious and interesting

5-Summary: The story was about one shooting star falling into the riverbank. And there were aliens coming out of the star driving an outer space machine here and there in the riverbank causing noise and destroyed lots of homes. Toad and his friends sat themselves in the hot balloon and finally destroyed the machine.
-Comment: The description about the action in this story is very vivid, such as Toad jumped out of the hot balloon, dangling with the rope. This made the whole story very exciting. The original book is about heart warming stories, and this fan fiction add the star war part into the story, I think the author is very creative.




I decided to change my original plan for my fanfic. In my original plan, the Toad is of the same nature as in the book. But today I read a criminal novel and found the language they use so awesome, so I decided to change the style of my story from a crazy silly Toady's stupid adventure to something more cool.
I will change Toad's nature to be very cold and icy, Toad would be one that instead of a total idiot, becoming a super sensible 007 type of guy.

My plot would be like this:
1-At the beginning, describe Toad is now walking in the rain, from his face we can trace none of his old silly expressions(such as always have artful lights shining in his eyes, always having a broad, stupid smile). Instead, he looks very sensible.

2-Then I will let Toad think about his painful experience which served as a reason for the change of his nature. His proposal to a young female Toad was refused merciless and the reason for that was Toad had been considered to be a "An animal with no brain."

3-Toad had been sad for one year about this, and in this one year, he became a cold, sensible,accurate animal. Today he is going to a café to meet a new female Toad his friends introduced to him. He tries his best to be very precise, to be very smart about everything, but this female Toad is quite different from the previous one. This one likes the bragging boys, doesn't like serious person. So poor Toad is refused again.

March 26th

I had now posted two drafts in my fanfic page, and I will choose the second draft to develop into my final draft. Because although the first one is funny, it does not have a clear story line, it does not have a climax in the story, while the second one "The Rescue" there is a clear plot in it.

But in my fanfic "The Rescue", there seems a big problem in it as the description of Toad is inconsistent in the start and in the middle of the story. In the start, I describe Toad as a very cold animal, very cool nature. But during the rescue, Toad had acted in exaggeration in order to draw attention of the person wanting to suicide. So one Toad is cold as ice, one Toad is a super good actor acting out desperate scenes, I found it ridiculous to read.

So what I am thinking is to remain the acting part, and change the start of the story. According to Toad's acting at the top level of the building, Toad would be a very kind man as he does not mind to get a bit injured to save the life of the suicidal guy. Toad would be a passionate character just as in the original book because his acting is in exaggeration, a very cold, cool person cannot act that way. Toad would also be very sensible, as his plan is actually a practical plan, so this part he had changed from the crazy, headless Toad in the original book. So 1-sensible 2-passionated(enjoy acting and drama) 3-kind. These three things will be used to descript Toad's nature in the start of my new post:)
